Image: Parametrized surface mapping
The function $\dlsp$ maps each small rectangle of the planar domain $\dlr$ onto a “curvy rectangle” floating in three-dimensional space. For example, the highlighted central recentangle is mapped onto the highlighted central “curvy rectangle.”
